See the high level agenda for the Women Uniting for Good conference below. 

The United Way Worldwide team is eager to meet you and issue your badge credentials in the Maryland/Baltimore Foyer (5th floor). For the safety of all attendees, your badge is required to access all sessions and meal functions. If you leave your badge in your room, we’ll kindly ask you to retrieve it before entering the conference space. If you lose your badge, please visit the check-in desk. Your cooperation in honoring our badge policy is appreciated. 

If you arrive at the hotel on Monday, Oct. 21 and are registered for either the Tuesday morning pre-conference training, Generosity and Gender: The Power of Women Donors, or the Tuesday wellness activity, we ask that you please check-in on Monday between 4 and 5 p.m. EST. This way, you’ll have your badge credentials to access the wellness activity at 5:30 a.m. or the training at 8 a.m. on Tuesday as well as the other conference sessions.

Please join us at 10 a.m. in The Music Room, located on first floor of the hotel, for an optional meet-and-greet with Angela F. Williams, President and CEO of United Way Worldwide. Angela is eager to say hello and welcome you to this empowering event.  

Doors open at 10:45 a.m. for our networking brunch at 11 a.m. in Maryland Ballroom ABC on the 5th floor.  

General session doors will open 15 minutes prior to each scheduled session. We’re offering a variety of seating options for your comfort, so please arrive early to find your favorite spot and meet a new friend.

This two-hour training is packed with valuable lessons from the Women’s Philanthropy Institute, insights from interviews with 70 women philanthropists, and other research-based findings to inform United Way and Women United leaders seeking to start or grow a strong Women United donor base.  You’ll learn why women’s philanthropy is important, its impact on the philanthropic sector, and how your organization can prepare for the "4th Wave" of women's philanthropy. 

Strategically, you’ll learn how women practice philanthropy, their themes, motivations, and interests, and how the source of wealth influences philanthropic decisions. Participants will explore strategies to build a women’s philanthropy program or expand an existing one and discover new trends in women’s giving, while learning how to work with diverse women donors and multiple generations.

Training objectives:

In this interactive session, you'll learn how to engage a new generation of donors and understand how intergenerational wealth impacts philanthropy now and in the future, as for a strategic development priority for nonprofit organizations. Learn about new philanthropic models that High Net Worth individuals are leveraging, such as Social Impact Investing, LLCs, Gender Lens Investing, Family Philanthropy, Trust-Based Philanthropy, alternatives to Donor Based Funds, and how to engage foundations and new donors with increased wealth capacity. Lois will share extensive knowledge and facilitate discussions to help you prepare for the opportunities of intergenerational wealth transfer.
